Schedules are provided weekly and are based on the physician's clinic, patient and surgery schedules. Retina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking an individual who will be responsible to providing accurate documentation and summarization of the ocular examination and recommendations while maintaining patient flow and communication regarding appointment status within a high volume practice. Common Eye Surface Problems - Blepharitis, Dry Eye, Subconjuntival Hemorrhage.Idiopathic Parafoveal Telangiectsasia (PFT).Central Serous Retinopathy / Chorioretinopathy.Retinal Artery Occlusion (CRAO and BRAO).Peripheral Retinal Pathology - Lattice Degeneration, White Without Pressure, Pigmented Lesions and Masses.Panretinal Photocoagulation (PRP) Laser.Training and Certification provided for ideal candidates. Experience: Preferred, but not necessary.SKILLS & ABILITIES Education: High School Graduate.Able to navigate between screens: able to accurately enter data. Accountability – Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions or work performed.Refills patient medications through Electronic Health Record system.Triages patients and determines priority for appointments, as well as provides education and instructions on a variety of ocular complaints/diseases.Assists with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent is obtained, sets up and cleans up from procedures.Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.Is able to perform lensometry, refractometry, applanation tonometry, basic muscle balance testing, assess pupils, assess the anterior chamber, confrontation visual fields and gross external exam. Is able to take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity.Performs testing required by type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and history. Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.POSITION SUMMARY The Ophthalmic Assistant generates important preliminary information to be used by the ophthalmologist reviews patient status and performs medical tests.
